DAY 3, LEG 11 - Douala to Ibadan
After a quick fuel stop in Douala it is time to head further west into one of Africa's most populated countries - Nigeria. In order to continue making progress in Day 3 I decided to avoid the busy Lagos Airport and continue west to Ibadan, close to the border with Benin, for another quick turn-around and departure for Leg 12. A forecast easterly wind is set to give a groundspeed of over 300kts for the trip which will help us along nicely!
Air Nigeria departing for Libreville, Gabon.
A busy morning with an Air France A340 arriving from Paris after an overnight flight.
Climbing out past Mount Cameroon, the highest peak in the country at 13,435ft. This shot taken passing through 14,000ft but it still doesn't look high enough to clear the peak!
Flying past Mount Camerooon with the two peaks of Bioko Island in the distance. Malabo, the capital of Equatorial Guinea, is on the north coast of the island near the biggest peak, Pico Basile, and the furthest peak on the island is part of the Caldera mountains. Good vis today!
Overflying the Niger River running through the forests of central-south Nigeria. Routing between Calabar and Benin City at FL190.
Being vectored through the clouds at 6000ft for a visual approach to Rwy 04 at Ibadan.
Landing at Ibadan.
Parked at Ibadan.
